Ashutosh Gowariker: Waiting for Buddha?
| By Hindustan Times Mumbai, July 21 -- Ashutosh Gowariker and his co-producer B K Modi have decided to put their magnum opus, Buddha, on hold because they haven't been able to finalise the actor for the title role. Soon after the duo announced their plans of making the biopic, they launched a website, Buddha-movie.com, inviting applications from actors aspiring to play the divine protagonist. But despite going through over 6,000 photographs and videos, Gowariker still hasn't found his Buddha. According to a source associated with the movie, the producer-director now wants to expand the search to find the right actor. The director, who is currently working on the post-production of his Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, had already finalised an international crew that includes big names like Karl Walter Lindenlaub (cinematography), Jarrod Linton (pre-visualisation), David Ward (script-screenplay), David Russel (storyboard artist), Glenn Boswell (action), April Ferry (costumes), Dileep Singh Rathore (co-producer and line producer) and Nitin Desai (art) for Buddha. The movie, which focuses on the life of Prince Siddhartha and his journey to enlightenment, was scheduled to start by the year end, but could now take longer to start.
