There are
certain films that travel across the globe for commercial reasons. There are
some which make the round of festival circuits around the globe. But it
seems that Madhur Bhandarkar films are fast becoming favorites with
Academicians.
IIM (Indian Institute of Management), Ahmedabad has reached out to
the National Award winning director for making a Case Study on his film
Corporate. As per Dr. Tejas A. Desai, Faculty, IIM, Bhandarkar's
Corporate stands out because of its excellent description of the conflict
between wealthy corporates and the upcoming rich working class who run
these corporates on a day to day basis.
He also added that a case study based on Corporate could be
effectively used for the teaching purpose inside the classroom.
The story doesn't end at just the case study and its subsequent sharing
with the students in IIM. The premier institute also aims at inviting
Bhandarkar at the campus so that he could share his views on business and
films with the students and faculty.
On being contacted Bhandarkar said, "It is of course an honor for
your work to be recognized by country numero uno Management institute
like IIM. It means that your work has been understood well and the story
which has been told has not just resulted in entertainment but also made
people think about what happens in our world. I have strived for such
cinema and recognition of Corporate by the best brains in the business is
nothing short of a victory for me and my team."
A few weeks back, Bhandarkar's recent release Traffic Signal too was
chosen for a Case Study at Maharaja Ranjitsingh College of Professional
Sciences, Indore. Titled “DILEMMA OF AN NGO - When The Signal
Will Turn Green”, the case study was based on the real life situations as
shown in the movie wherein the gap between reel life and real life is
bridged. The basic objective of writing the case was to invite attention of
the management fraternities towards socio-economic problems of
India.
When released last year, Corporate got both critical acclaim and
audience's appreciation. The film introduced on silver screen a world
behind the glass walls that had everyone and everything from executives,
politicians, power games, sex and corruption coming together. The film
starred Bipasha Basu as the central protagonist along with Kay Kay
Menon, Rajat Kapoor and Raj Babbar along with Sameer Dattani and
Minisha Lamba.
