Madhur Bhandarkar to be felicitated in US

The Brihan Maharashtra Madal of North America (BMM) is holding

its 13th Biennial convention in Seattle, Washington from June 28 till July 1,

2007. The BMM serves the Marathi community in the North America. The

conventions which is attended by approximately 5 to 6 thousand people

from all over America provides an opportunity to interact and discuss

issues of common interest and provide a forum to display artistic talents.

As a part of this convention the BMM has invited the director Madhur

Bhandarkar as a guest of honour for having made a significant contribution

using the film medium to portray social issues. They also plan to felicitate

him, commending his efforts for bringing the social conscience of his

audience to the surface.

Madhur, who's all set to fly to US tomorrow, says, "I'm feeling

honoured to be a part of such a prestigious forum and convention. Six to

seven thousand people will be present there…so it is kind of

overwhelming." Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and minister Ashok

Chauhan are also expected to be present at the occasion. The BMM has in

their previous conventions honoured other noted Maharashtrians like Asha

Bhonsle, Bhimsen Joshi, Madhuri Dixit, etc
