Smriti Irani, UTV to produce serial on Mahatma Gandhi
| Mumbai, Aug 13 (IANS) UTV Television announced Wednesday it would produce a TV serial on Mahatma Gandhi in association with Smriti Irani Productions Ltd. "The serial will depict the human side of the father of the nation. It is for the first time that such a TV series is being planned on the Indian television," said Ajit Thakur, chief operating officer of UTV Television. He disclosed that the concept of the series was that of Smriti Irani's, which is now being jointly developed by UTV and her company. "Besides being the father of the nation as we know him today, Mahatma Gandhi was also a family man, a husband and a father. The proposed serial will depict him more as a human being than as a political personality," said Irani. The project is still on the drawing board, but the statement issued by UTV revealed that talks were going on with the broadcasters in the US and Britain to take the serial to the television viewers worldwide. |
