'A Wednesday' special screening for Advani, Dikshit
| New Delhi, Sep 1 (IANS) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has already seen it. And now a host of top politicians including BJP leader L.K. Advani and Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit will see "A Wednesday" at a special screening here. "We have invited Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit and senior Congress leader and home minister Shivraj Patil for the premiere of 'A Wednesday'," said Girish Johar, associate vice-president of UTV Motion Pictures, who are the distributors of the film. "Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Tejinder Khanna and opposition leader L.K. Advani would also be attending a special screening of the film Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, as per the schedule convenience," added Johar. The film stars veteran film actors Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah in the lead and is about a series of events that unfold in the day on a particular Wednesday that have its after effects on the lives of everyone involved in the system including the cops, politicians and the public. Johar also informed that they are trying to invite Commissioner of Police Y.S. Dadwal for the screening. The distributors are also planning to take the movie to different states for a pre-release screening. "After watching Narendra Modi's euphoric reaction for the film, we are talking to people and planning to take it to other states too before the release," Johar said. When asked, director of the film Neeraj Pandey said: "Inviting the politicians is only a part of the promotion strategy and nothing more than that. It's just that we wanted the right person from every state like Narendra Modi from Gujarat and Shiela Dikshit from Delhi to introduce it to the people". "We just want to show them our confidence in the product and the world to hear their reaction after watching the movie," Pandey told IANS over phone from Mumbai. The director also trashed all rumours that "A Wednesday" is based on the Mumbai train blasts and asserted: "The film is not based on the Mumbai train blasts. It is a commercial film that is both entertaining and cathartic." This is not the first time the country's top-notch political leaders have been invited for a movie screening. Earlier, Aamir Khan held special screening of his film "Taare Zameen Par" and Ajay Devgan of his directorial debut "U, Me Aur Hum". |
