Yuvraj Singh: 'Not interested in TV, but 'fun things' are ok'
| By Hindustan Times Mumbai, July 26 -- After rubbishing rumours of a film being made by his father with him in the lead role, Yuvraj Singh has now wiped out all speculation of him doing a TV show. "I am very happy playing cricket and that's what I always wanted to do. My priority is to play for India and not to do any show on television," says Singh, whose next goal is to be in the best form for the World Cup. After the cricketer was recently offered a chance to be publicly wed on the TV show, Swayamwar, his name was in the running, along with other cricketers like Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth, for Khatron Ke Khiladi's next season, which will be hosted by Priyanka Chopra. "People have the misconception that sports personalities automatically veer towards TV after a certain point in their career. That is not true," says Singh, who claims that enjoying life off the field doesn't mean they do not give their 100 per cent to the game. Fitness comes first Does he agree with the BCCI's decision to ban cricketers from participating in life-threatening stunts for entertainment? Says Singh, "One hundred per cent. If we get injured, the Board bears the responsibility and they are supposed to take care of the players. They have to ensure we are in the best shape for the World Cup." He adds that it's an individual's choice if they want to do TV, but they must realise where their priorities lie. "We cannot afford to risk it all for a show," he says. When asked whether he would consider a career on the tube post his cricket career, he laughs: "I only have a few years left and I want to concentrate on my game. I don't know what I'll do later... I may open an academy or coach kids or travel. There was never an alternate profession in mind!" Bookmark/Search this post with: |
